The Founder’s Vision
The Next Phase
H.E.L.P. Miami started as a home-schooling activity for my children and has grown to a fully accredited K-12 alternative education center, resulting in hundreds of children achieving academic success.
Enrollment has steadily increased since 1992 which shows the effectiveness of our teachers and program. We are currently about 10 students away from hitting our max capacity in the space we currently lease. (Max capacity is 85 students.)
While I am very happy about the growth of the school, the fact of the matter is: 85 students is about 2½ public school classrooms. Helping only 85 students is simply not enough volume.
Buy a building or church in the 33175 zip code. I prefer to buy a few acres of land and build the school from scratch. The building needs to have parking, playgrounds, at least one basketball court and space for a large garden. Indoors would have a minimum of 40 classrooms, lockers, a cafeteria, auditorium, gym and office space.
Right now there is a huge demand for us to start an ESE program for students with special needs which a new building would solve. We would also implement a very strong arts program. The school would look sharp, the staff would be well trained (and paid) making it a model in the community.
I would turn the space I currently operate out of (in the mall) into a community center where we would train volunteers to tutor and offer services to families who otherwise cannot afford it.
All said and done, this vision comes with a multi-million dollar price tag which is not going to be covered by bake sales and raffles. I need a few BIG thinking, creative and motivated individuals to make this vision a reality.
